"Old School" Patriotic Truck

I'm so loving this "Old School" Patriotic Truck...
it has been my favorite project I have painted all year!
I bought him from The Wood Connection and used Midnight Blue and
Metallic Silver by Ceramcoat to paint 'em up purty ;-)
Happy Crafting!

Patriotic Welcome Post...

I love my welcome post ~ mainly because my mom and dad built it  see instructions here... I dusted off my Silhouette and picked out a font that was bold enough to see the sign from the street. I used red, white and blue vinyl and painted the background black (so it matches my post) and painted the wood star red. I'm not a real glitter fan... but I decided I wanted the star to sparkle (you can't see it in the picture ~ but it's beautiful when the sun hits it!). I attached the star with E6000 glue added the I hooks and it was ready to go!

Altered Glass Bowls...

What fun... I am so in love with spray paint these days.  Josh loves to make fun of me and I keep teasing him... you sit still long enough... I will spray paint you too! These are just the glass bowls from the $1 store... so simple but adds that splash of color... love it... love it... love it!

Patriotic Pretzels...

All netted up ~ ready for delivery!
 The sticks...
Mass production... almost 2 full bags dipped!

Mom and dad decided that since Kendra and I had so much fun decorating the pretzels... they wanted to help too! The plan was for mom and I to dip... and Dad and Kendra to decorate.  Kendra decorated all of the twists... but my dad has a lot of talent too so I moved over to the table so that he could decorate the sticks... I think he did a great job! The cute bowls I found at Hobby Lobby and with some netting in a "+" way then tied with a cute polka dot ribbon.  What a fun neighbor/family gift for the 4th of July holiday! Guess which holiday is next... Halloween... and I can decorate using my favorite color ... purple!

America

The finished product!
I sanded the letters first...
I decided that I wanted scrapbook paper on the top of each letter... 2 blue... 2 red and a white paper that combined the 2 colors! I put the letter face down on the BACK of the paper and traced around the edge.
I painted the letters the color that matched the paper
A light coating of Modge Podge for paper on both the back of the scrapbook paper and the top of the letter. Quickly adhere the paper to the letter and smooth out all of the air bubbles! I let them dry for 10 minutes or so and then went back with a nail file and filed off the edges of the scrapbook paper... some letters were a little bigger than the letter... and I wanted a white edge around the outside.
A final coat of sealer was applied to the entire letter and also on the scrapbook paper...
Another late project getting done... but I love to have my Patriotic decoration out until the first of September... so I still have a few weeks to enjoy! I bought all of the wood from the Wood Connection in Salt Lake City... I love the shadow box and I am looking forward to having something new in it for each of the seasons...

Painted Wood Flag

I'm a little late with getting this project completed...  I started with painting the whole thing in tan and then masked off the stripes and the blue section for the stars.  I then cut stars with my Quickutz out of vinyl. A quick coat of varnish... and she's ready to fly!

Patriotic Wood Crafts

The Uncle Sam hat - I love the glitter in the sunshine!

The Red - Blue and Silver stars

I painted the base and sticks with Silver... then added a touch of blue with paint on the end of my finger... love... love... love the look! I'm thinking we can use it for Dallas Cowboy season too...

The Uncle Sam hat completed with a metal star. The stars with their finishing touches... a metal star and ribbon!

It's hard to tell...but the Silver star is completely covered in Martha Stewart glitter...it super sparkly!

Just an Apothecary jar... filled with red - white and blue stars and the finishing touch... a Flag!

Patriotic Altered Candles

I found these candlesticks at Rod Works in Layton...
but the candles were "blah"...
Cut a piece of patriotic pattern paper, inked the edges,
glue dots to hold the paper together ...tie with a cute ribbon!

Patriotic Star Paper Mache Box

Paper mache boxes. Cut pattern paper... ink the edges...add some Modge Podge..

Altered Metal Patriotic Star

I chose to do a solid color with the pattern paper on each point.
Mom made hers using the "mirror image" of pattern papers.

Modge Podge the paper to the star, one final Modge Podge coat
to seal and out to the deck to spray with gold metallic paint
(2 light coats) then 2 coats of sealer and
Voila...another cute patriotic decoration to add to the house...

Patriotic Magnets

Patriotic scrapbook paper cut with circle punch for back of marble.
